A little over a month ago Tyler and I hosted my grandparent's 50th anniversary celebration! They celebrated 50 years of marriage back in March, but since my Mom's sister and her family are missionaries in South America, this was the first time the whole family was back together. It was a really sweet night of celebration! The lovely Whitney of Writing On Hearts did the invitation and the menu design and calligraphy. I met Whitney at Making Things Happen this spring and she is truly one of the sweetest gals with incredible talent!
My parents brought over their outdoor furniture so we would have a cozy place to sit (we've since gotten a couch out there that we LOVE!) and it was a sweet spot throughout the night!
I wanted a pretty non-alcoholic sangria and this one was definitely a winner! It wasn't quite bubbly enough for my taste, so next time I would probably sub the white grape juice for sparking grape juice, but every last drop was gone by the end of the night! Recipe found here.
Andrea LeTard from Andrea's Cooktales was our chef for the evening, and let me tell you, this night wouldn't have been the same without her! If you follow me on Instagram you know that I've talked about her multiple times because she's so genuinely sweet, crazy talented, and makes me love food! She brought her A-game to this celebration and everyone raved over her delicious food. First up was my favorite of the night, Super Southern Salad. It had apples, candied nuts, dried cranberries, CREAM CHEESE crumbles (!!!!), and was topped with grit croutons. Yes I said GRIT CROUTONS. Seriously, we couldn't have started out any more southern and I loved it.
Next up was a lemon spaghetti with herbed chicken. This was absolutely PERFECT for a summer night and we all enjoyed it so much. It was light, fresh, and filling!
We ended the night with mini blueberry pies with honeyed whipped cream for dessert! These were delicious and the perfect sweet way to end the night.
It was an incredible night celebrating the couple who means so much to everyone in our family! Grateful for the legacy of long marriages and excited to see what the next years holds for this sweet couple. xoxo
