Coles in the Country | the basics
Happy Wednesday, friends! Welcome to another installment of Coles in the Country! I realized that I jumped ahead of myself and hadn't shared some of the basics. Today I'm going to share a few of the major details that you'll find throughout our home!
The biggest detail you'll find running through our home will be the flooring! In the spirit of sticking to our budget and having certain areas we knew we wanted to spend a little more, we decided to stain our concrete!
Our highest selling point for staining the concrete is the fact that it's significantly cheaper than any other flooring option. Another great selling point for us is the fact that it'll be really easy to maintain and keep clean! Our room will be concrete, but the other bedrooms will all have carpet. We wanted the kids to have some soft options for play especially since we're still wanting to have a couple more babies in the next few years. We're going with a really light stain to stay close to the natural concrete color. The image above is probably my favorite!
One of the hardest decision, in my opinion, is picking out paint color! Especially since our home, inside and out, will be painted, I wanted to feel confident in my decision! I'm pretty certain we'll do chantilly lace by Benjamin Moore for the exterior. The gal I've talked about before who has this same house plan used it so I trust her! Ha! It looks beautiful in all her photos! I've actually seen a few photos of interiors in chantilly lace that I really like, so we might have it throughout the interior of the house as well.
I am also really drawn to Benjamin Moore Simply White which I think would be a great option for our interior because I believe it's a little warmer. This is a strong contender!
Another major element is our fireplace! I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do here, mainly because I'm still unsure of if we'll have shiplap or subway tile in the kitchen. I really think we'll end up going with the shiplap and I like this simple option.
I also really like the idea of having a little bit of brick since we wont have it anywhere else. I also think I like the idea of having the shiplap painted! But I have zero ideas about what color I would want so share suggestions if you have any! Ha!
As you can see, there are still a lot of question marks but I'm hoping in the next month or so to have a lot of these decisions nailed down! I can't wait to show you some of my bathroom ideas next week!
