Wedded Bliss

Today on Kelly’s blog she is hosting a day of prayer.  A day of prayer for the victims of the current destructive weather as well as a day of prayer for those around our world that need it.  If you have a prayer request or you’re up for praying for our neighbors, hop on over to her blog.
I went to bed last night feeling like I was back in elementary school.  I’m a girl who loves weddings.  I love all the details, I love the dress, I love the family, and I love the love.  When I was younger I would imagine my wedding day.  I would be just giddy over what it must be like to be a princess for a day.  The giddiness I felt as a child, returned as I anticipated the wedding that took place in London this morning.  Oh, it was just stunning.

In the midst of the devastation the south is facing, it was so refreshing to take a few hours to celebrate something beautiful.  By no means do I think we should turn our backs to those who are hurting, but there are still moments to be celebrated.  Moments where we are reminded that our God is good.  That despite the heartache, the Lord still gives us moments to smile and rejoice.  Today, we got to witness one of the moments.  And it was breathtaking.  As I watched this wedding, I just had chills.  I loved seeing Prince William and Prince Harry wave and smile as they made their way to the Abbey.  I loved the anticipation as the world waited to see “The Dress”.  I loved watching the future princess step out of the car with a smile on her face because she knew she was headed down the isle to the man she loved.

I can only imagine what Price William must has been feeling as he had his back to the isle his bride walked down.  When Kate came to stand beside him, he looked over and gave her a priceless look.  He had happiness written all over his face.  He then leaned over and told his bride she was beautiful.
Oh, I love love.

The wedding ended and they drove down the streets of London in a horse drawn carriage.  They waved to their people as they made their way to Buckingham Palace.  The royal family stood with them on the balcony as they celebrated the beginning of their marriage with a kiss.  I don’t think I have ever been so thrilled to see a kiss!
Let’s talk about Kate’s sister Pippa for a minute.  First, she’s got the most darling name I’ve ever heard.  Second, her bridesmaid dress took my breath away.  I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with the bridesmaid dress, but I certainly did.  I want to wear her dress at my wedding!  I have fallen in love with sleeved wedding dresses.  Short sleeve, long sleeve, I love them all.  Put some lace on that baby and make it in ivory and it’s sold.  Perfect, perfect, perfect.

As I thought about this day, I couldn’t help but dream up my own special day.  My day will look nothing like Kate’s.  No big church, no famous guests, no royal carriage ride to a palace.  My day will be full of love with my closest family and friends.  My day will be outside in the cool Fall air.  My day won’t end in a palace, but it will end in love.  And it will be perfect.

What a wonderful morning to think about love.  In the midst of ugly, tragic days we can remember that we have a Love that will never leave us nor forsake us.  We have a Love that will comfort, a Love that will heal.  We have a Love that brings joy.  I hope something brings joy to you this weekend.
Until Next Time.
