Coles in the Country | our house plans
I feel like it was just yesterday that we built our previous home and here we are, in the process of building what we hope will be our home for a really, really long time. When we listed our house for sale we got so many questions from people about why we were selling. "Didn't you JUST build it?!" Yes, pretty much! Ha! We knew that we wanted to live further "out" one day with a little bit of space, but we figured we were still a few years away from that. Some of our very best friends (the couple we lived with while we built our last house!) bought land out in the country and there were still some spots left close to them. ANOTHER set of our close friends bought the lot right next to them... and we are a lot removed from them! We each have about 2 acres and we'll be able to take a quick walk through the woods to get to them and THAT is why we sold our house and are building again so quickly. That was a short version of a long story because this was MONTHS in the making. It seemed like God shut the door, and then it would open again, and then it would shut again... and then we sold our house in 48 hours and we were going to be neighbors with some of our very best friends. We are so excited to have community in a whole new way and it already makes my heart so full thinking of our kids running around on those acres and growing up together. This is the good stuff!
The house we are building is basically nothing like the house we just moved from! We are going a totally different direction this time and I just can't wait to see it all come to life. I'm excited to show you our house plans!
This is our sweet barn house! It'll basically look exactly as it is pictured here, but we will be adding a carport and a side door entrance and the side porch on the back will be another bedroom. I can just picture it sitting out in the trees on our lot and I can't wait to do some photo sessions on the side of the house!
We were wanting a very simple, straightforward plan that would be easy for us to raise our family and have people over. This plan really could not be more perfect for us! The kitchen, dining, and living is basically one big room and it'll be great for entertaining. We're adding a side door and half bath to the left side by the "office" (which will be a bedroom) and we're adding a bedroom where the side porch is that will be the playroom until we need it for another bedroom. We aren't going to do the loft just because it's not in budget, but homes with the loft are SO DREAMY. There are a few other little changes we're making and I just can't wait to see it come to life! We've found a few people on instagram who have built variations of this plan and our favorite to draw inspiration from is Kandace! I love the railing up to the loft and I LOVE their garage door that leads to their porch! If you're into home design, you definitely need to scroll through her feed!
