The Short List Vol. 1

The Short List Vol. 1

My friend Michaela does a series called “the short list” where she just shares a few random things from time to time and I thought it would be a good way for me to share a little more of our normal, everyday life!

What I’m loving: Right now I cannot get enough of cookbooks! I read them like novels and I love picking one up every time we go to the library. After I photographed Andrea’s cookbook my appreciation for cookbook authors grew and I love being inspired by recipes and food photos. I’m picking up Trim Healthy Table today because I’ve been implementing some trim healthy mama ideas since the fall and I need to be inspired by some new recipes! If you have a favorite cookbook or author PLEASE SHARE!

What I’m watching: This past weekend Tyler surprised me with a date night to the movies, something we rarely do these days! I’ve been asking to see the new Jurassic World and it did NOT disappoint! Fun fact, the Jurassic Park movies are some of my absolute favorites and I think they’re so fun to watch. The new World was different than the others, but I enjoyed it so much. I’m already anticipating the next one in 3 years! Ha!

What I’m cooking: I feel like I’ve been in such a funk with meals lately so I don’t feel super inspired by what I’ve been cooking. Last week Tyler made us a shrimp and grits recipe that was really really good and we learned that the babies enjoy cheese grits! It came from a cookbook called Eat Delicious and it has fun recipes and beautiful photos!

What I’m reading: Right now I’m finishing up a Terri Blackstock series (the moonlighter series) that’s been easy to read and suspenseful! I really enjoy mystery and crime type stories and Terri is a Christian author so it’s all approached really tastefully. I can’t wait to find a new series at the library this week! I’m also reading Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life and Parenting and both are incredible. I can’t wait to share more thoughts as I wrap these up!

What I’m looking forward to: I have some big shifts happening in my photography business and I’m heading into something completely new in the field. I’m feeling really excited and inspired about what’s ahead, but I almost feel like I have too many ideas and I can’t sort them all out. I’m going to write out some goals this week and start working so that I can release this new facet of our business in the next couple of months! I’m hoping it’ll be a blessing to some of you small business owners and I just can’t wait!

I know I’ve said this before, but blogging sure has changed since I started in 2010, but I appreciate so much those of you who still take the time to read my words here. This is a fun hobby for me that I’m working at getting back into!  I’m excited to share my vision behind our new home on Wednesday and I can’t wait for you to see some of my heart!
